Auctioning can either be public or private. Public auction is used when the seller wants to sell goods quickly. A list of current bid is displayed where bidders bid and the selected few bid again. The highest bidder wins. Public auction operates at a by-it-now price to their goods. This means the highest bidder has to pay for the goods at that particular time.

In the case of private auctioning, sellers usually want to find an ideal person to sell their goods. They also want to sell the goods at the right price. The auction is conducted privately hence no public advertisements are used. Information regarding the auction is sent privately to the participating members. After bidding the highest bidder gets the goods. Information concerning the sell is only known by the seller and buyer alone.

Both the auctions are conducted by an auctioneer. They announce the price and call the bidders. So many other goods can be sold using this method. Some people think that auctioning is so chaotic, loud and involve so many arguments. There is also existence of silent auctioning. In this, there no need of auctioneer.
