When it comes to knowing what to expect when arriving at the security gate of an airport, it is often impossible. For, rules and regulations can change quite often. As such, to avoid tsa horror stories, it is best to contact the airport prior to departure to review rules related to carry-on, checked baggage and security.
Whether targeting the elderly and disabled or others, there have been a number of lawsuits brought against the agency in this regard. For example, once two tsa agents came out of nowhere when a family was walking down the dark hallway to the plane. After which, the agents demanded to know how much money, travelers checks and foreign currency the family was carrying.
In the last few years, there have also been incidents which make no sense whatsoever. In one case, a family was pulled aside and questioned while on the walkway between the gate and airplane. In this incident, two agents pulled two adults and a granddaughter aside to ask questions about how much money and travelers checks the family had at the time. All members of the family had gone through the initial and an additional security. In the process, the flight attendant pushed the granddaughter out of the way and into the agents.
In another case, a young female was pulled aside at the San Francisco airport because of a camera in carry on luggage. After which, the agent pulled the film from the camera, thus exposing it and ruining the pictures which the woman had stored as part of a class project. As a result, the student was not able to complete the project and thus, failed the course.
Once the woman was back at college, the professor told the student if a note could be provided with regards to the incident, a make-up project might be possible. While this is the case, even though the student requested the Customer Service department of the airline provide one, there has still been no response.
While most often it is those whom feel victimized that have filed complaints, there have also been witnesses to incidents whom have shared stories online. In case, a young man awaiting a turn at the security gate and metal detector noticed a European woman being pulled aside and having a male agent place hands down the spandex pants in a sexual manner.
In most cases, tsa provides female investigators when needing to delve further into what is believed to be a security threat where women are involved. While this is the case, it still seems beyond normal security guidelines for any woman to have to remove a prosthetic breast during an investigation. Which, is what happened to one North Carolina flight attendant before boarding an on-call flight while off duty.
To avoid these tsa nightmares, it is important that all travelers pay attention to travel restrictions and regulations on a regular basis. For, depending on the level of security risk defined by current events, both can often change. As such, the more up to date with regards to these issues and baggage check rules, the more success fliers are going to have while going through security checks.
