When using a double broiler, bring the water to a boil then add the base detergent and cover. Use only low heat. Check it now and then to see if it has melted. When the fragrance and detergent are blended well, pour in the detergent solution to the mold. Other kinds of essential oils may also be used.

Colorants may also be added. It has to be added when the base detergent is still melting. Measure about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon mica and pour in the bowl or double broiler and continuously stir. If bubbles are seen on top of the detergent, spray alcohol on the bubbles to clear it out. Leave it in the mold for at least a day before removing it from the mold.

Unmold the detergent and cut in bar sizes if needed. Use a knife or special cutter if available. These are simple and easy to follow detergent making instructions. Try this first, and before you know it, the craving for a more unique, creative and complex detergent making will arise.
