This is very important in preparing well trained and experienced engineers who are qualified to handle the pressure in this career. The student should then make sure that they pass their final test on fundamentals of engineering. This is the fourth phase in the transition process into a certified and licensed marine engineer. Passing this test qualifies the student to go to the next level and draws them closer towards becoming a fully-fledged engineer. Therefore, they should ensure that they are adequately prepared.

The fifth and also important phase is to enroll in an entry-level position in a certified organization or company. It is a requirement that one cannot be certified or licensed without having experience in the field for a minimum of four years. This is usually the final test between them and their license to operate in the field.
