Why Are Workers Signing Up With The Kind Of Skilled Temp Agency Florida Businesses Use

By Kenneth Kennedy

A lot of workers used to consider temporary work just a way to bring in money until they could find permanent employment. Things have changed, and today many workers are voluntarily working temporary assignments instead of long term ones. These are not unskilled workers, but include college and technical school graduates. Why they are opting to sign with a skilled temp agency Florida companies call on demonstrates one of the big changes in today's work mentality.

One reason is because a lot of temporary jobs pay very well. Employers who need skilled workers are willing to pay for them. Sometimes they will pay more than what they would offer a permanent employee for the same work. They will do this because they are not paying for any benefits for the temps. There is no sick or vacation day pay, profit sharing, or insurance coverage required for these workers.

Getting a great job right out of college or tech school isn't always easy these days. Kids often have little work experience in the field of their choice. What they have that is of value to an employer is an advanced academic or technical education.

Gaining the experience these young people need sometimes requires accepting temporary jobs. Some will find temporary employment in an area of their field of interest where they can get real life experience that they will eventually take to the type of job they want. The short term employment sometimes becomes a permanent job.

At one time people graduated from high school or college, got a job and stayed there until retirement. This is no longer the case. Young adults today will work a number of jobs before they reach retirement age. They do not even expect to stay with one company anymore. Fortunately, this is no longer seen as a sign of instability on the worker's part, or a hostile environment on the company's part. This makes taking temporary employment more acceptable.

Some workers enjoy the flexibility of working temporary jobs. They may have young children, attend school, or just like freelancing. They take this kind of employment to supplement the household income instead of depending on it as their main source of income. People can take jobs when it is convenient for them. They work the jobs around their schedule instead of working in their lives around a work schedule.

There are still individuals who go into temporary jobs hoping it will lead to a full time work offer. Employers routinely call in temps when an individual leave the company for whatever reason, and until the employer can find a permanent replacement. It is not unusual for that replacement to be the temporary worker.

If nothing else, inexperienced graduates can get some good working experience. They might add some skills to their resumes that will get them permanent jobs. If there was ever a stigma attached to temporary work, it is gone.
