Tips On Proper Performance Based Acquisition

By Linda Hamilton

Working in the government can provide you with a lot of temptations. So, it is important for you to follow these steps and know how you should be selecting a local service provider. Not everyone is going to be qualified and those who are bribing you for the contract should be the least of your concerns.

You must come up with a special team soon enough. Assign them exclusively to Performance Based Acquisition and there shall be no problem with your operations. They just need to be strong with their convictions and not allow any contractor to bribe their way into a contract. Govern with honesty and become a role model.

You should know everything about the project being presented to you. That can make you conclude that some tasks are meant for experts alone. This will lead you to deliver the best work possible and make your agency be known in your small town. Uplift your subordinates and make them feel their purpose in life.

You ought to always have the two sides of the story. Know how the public and private sectors would solve the issue respectively. With that kind of information gathering, you are bound to have the right kind of perspective. Become open minded and one is showing to everybody that they have been right in choosing you as a leader.

You should have some personal ideas on how you are going to go about this project. When you act as a leader in every sense of that word, your workers will not be ashamed to tell the group what they think about the project too. That can stimulate everyone and be keen in providing collaborative effort.

It does not matter if you have a long list of requirements for your potential partners. All of them must be up for the challenge or they will never get into the affairs of the government. You simply cannot commit a mistake in choosing the right people to work. You have your reputation and the whole agency to protect.

One should treat bribes like they do not exist. Remember that your integrity is one of the few things in this world which people cannot take away from you. So, hold on to that and pass on your position in the most decent manner. Step down because you have been assigned to another agency or simply chose to retire. Have a clean reputation.

Manage the performance of your hired employees. They may be the best but you still need to help them in adjusting to the culture in your agency. Always be on top of management because that is the main thing which you can hold on to when problems are being reported.

Just be certain that a long term contract is also present in the goals of your new team. You need their one hundred percent cooperation once you start to tackle on your first project together. Slowly gain the confidence of the other party and be able to give your full trust at the same time.
